Everyone Deserves a Snow Day!

Today, in Chicago, Illinois it is snowing like crazy and they are predicting about 10-12 inches of snow to fall. As a kid, I would pray for snow days, but it always seemed that the more they predicted the “big” storm, the less it materialized. As an adult, I still love snow days. This morning as I was leaving my house (an extra 30 minutes early to be on-time for my first meeting), I pulled out onto my street and said out loud “everyone deserves a snow day now and then”.
I love the anticipation of a snow day. I love having to slow down and cut a lot of superfluous things out of my schedule. I love the memories it brings up from my youth. I love the beauty of the blanket of white (before it becomes the ugly black slush). And, when I return to my home, it makes me grateful that I have a safe and warm home to ride out the storm.
What do you love about snow days?
So if we love and deserve a snow day . . . what will it take to create your own snow day every now and then . . . even without the snow?
